Crusher Hammer Head: The key wear-resistant guard in the crusher

2025 01/21

In many industrial fields such as mining, metallurgy, and building materials, crushers play an indispensable role. Among the many components of the crusher, the Crusher Hammer Head is undoubtedly a very critical existence, like a tough heart, driving the crushing work efficiently and stably.

Crusher hammer head is one of the core components of the hammer crusher. From the classification point of view, there are many types, including hammer crusher hammer head, fine crusher hammer head, compound crusher hammer head, ring hammer crusher hammer head, etc. In terms of material, forged crusher hammer head, high manganese steel crusher hammer head, high chromium alloy crusher hammer head, compound crusher hammer head, etc. have their own characteristics.

At present, high manganese steel is the main material for making crusher hammer head. However, it is not perfect, and there are problems such as poor wear resistance and short service life. In actual work, because the hammer head has to withstand the impact and scouring of materials, it is easy to be damaged in such a high-intensity working environment for a long time. For example, in a reversible hammer crusher, after the material falls from the feed port into the crushing chamber, it will collide with the high-speed rotating hammer head, and the crushed material will then hit the grate bar, and the fine material with qualified particle size will be discharged through the grate bar gap. In this process, the hammer head is constantly impacted, and over time, its working surface will be damaged.

Analyzing the working principle of the hammer crusher, the failure of the hammer head has various forms. In the early stage of operation, when the surface shape has not changed, it is mainly impact wear, and the material hits the metal surface with a positive force to produce plastic deformation and impact pits. However, with use, the working surface of the hammer head is ground into an arc, and the force situation changes. The original hammer head hammer face force F will be decomposed into a normal force Fr and a tangential force Fq perpendicular to the hammer face. The tangential force Fq will cause cutting and scouring on the hammer face. This scouring wear becomes the main form of hammer head failure.

In order to overcome these problems, relevant practitioners and researchers have been working hard to explore. For example, some companies have developed high-chromium composite hammer heads based on long-term in-depth research on the characteristics of crushed materials in sandstone and mines. This hammer head adopts advanced composite casting technology, which combines toughness and wear resistance. Its service life is 4 times that of forged hammer heads or high manganese steel hammer heads. Moreover, it overcomes the disadvantage of easy breakage of composite hammer heads and is very popular in small and medium-sized sandstone plants and brick and tile plants.

In terms of market demand, the demand for crusher hammer heads is extensive and continuous. The processing of many materials such as limestone, shale, coal gangue, coke, etc. requires crushers, which is inseparable from crusher hammer heads. Moreover, different materials have different requirements for the wear resistance and impact resistance of hammer heads.

From the perspective of industry standards, the national standard "Hammer Crusher Hammer Wear" provides specifications for the use and quality inspection of hammer heads. Its main drafting units include Shanghai Jianshe Road and Bridge Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., Luoyang Mining Machinery Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd. and other industry authoritative organizations, which also reflects the importance of crusher hammer heads in the industry.

In short, Crusher Hammer Head is the core component of the normal operation of the crusher, and its performance directly affects the working efficiency, service life and cost of the crusher. With the continuous advancement of science and technology, I believe that more crusher hammers with better performance and longer service life will be developed in the future, injecting more powerful impetus into the industrial crushing business.
